The goal is not to discredit tools or technical practices, but rather to <strong>delineate precisely which problem the schema solves and which it does not<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The correction is necessary because this belief tends to mix <strong>different layers<\/strong>: technical markup, semantic structure and knowledge reuse.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11_What_belief_exactly_is_addressed\"><\/span>1.1 What belief exactly is addressed<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The belief can be formulated like this:<\/p>\n<p>If content is correctly marked with schema, an AI system will be able to read it, understand it and reuse it in its responses.<\/p>\n<p>This formulation introduces three non-equivalent assumptions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>markup is equivalent to making readable<\/li>\n<li>that declaring structure is equivalent to creating meaning<\/li>\n<li>that the use of schema guarantees reuse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The article does not ask whether schema is \u201cgood\u201d or \u201cbad\u201d. The problem is not in the use of the schema, but in <strong>attributing to it a scope that it does not have<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"21_Declarative_function_of_the_schema\"><\/span>2.1 Declarative function of the schema<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The schema is a <strong>declarative markup<\/strong>. Its function is to <strong>explain attributes<\/strong> of content in a structured and readable way for automatic systems.<\/p>\n<p>Through the schema it is declared, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the type of object represented<\/li>\n<li>certain associated properties<\/li>\n<li>basic relationships between elements<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Schema <strong>does not interpret<\/strong>, <strong>does not infer<\/strong> and <strong>does not synthesize<\/strong>. It declares information that already exists in the content.<\/p>\n<p>Its value is in <strong>reducing technical ambiguity<\/strong>, not in creating new meaning.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"22_Actual_scope_of_application\"><\/span>2.2 Actual scope of application<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The natural scope of the schema is that of <strong>document-centric retrieval systems<\/strong>, where:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the document remains the operational unit<\/li>\n<li>markup facilitates classification and visualization<\/li>\n<li>the structure serves to improve technical treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In this context, the schema:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>helps identify types of content<\/li>\n<li>improves consistency of technical interpretation<\/li>\n<li>does not replace the content or its coherence<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Outside of that scope, the schema <strong>does not change the nature of the object <\/strong>. It is still an auxiliary technical layer, not a knowledge structure.<\/p>\n<p>Confusing its scope of application is the origin of the incorrect expectation that this article corrects.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_What_schema_cannot_do\"><\/span>3. It assumes that the concept already exists and limits itself to labeling.<\/p>\n<p>When the schema is expected to \u201cmake readable\u201d content for an AI, it is actually asking <strong> to replace a conceptual task that does not correspond to <\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The result is not a technical failure. It does not define what exists or what can be reused.<\/p>\n<p>The schema accompanies the document. It doesn&#8217;t transcend it.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"52_The_entity_as_a_real_operating_unit\"><\/span>5.2 The entity as a real operating unit<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The <strong>semantic entity<\/strong> is the unit on which generative systems can operate stably.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike the schema, the entity:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>has identity independent of the document<\/li>\n<li>is conceptually defined<\/li>\n<li>can be reused regardless of the format<\/li>\n<li>maintains coherence over time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The schema can describe attributes of a document.
